It took me 18 years to realize this
I’ve been in “relationships” since the tender age of 5….. What can I say? Little girls didn’t want to be my friend in Kindergarten so I reverted to boys for companionship..
Besides the point.. It took me 18 years to fully comprehend this idea (even though I’ve been told this by numerous friends)……
“Just because someone has the qualities you’re looking for — doesn’t mean they’re right for you.”
I guess I have a tendency to seek out Quality A, B, and C. If you fulfill A or B, you’re automatically a contender. I’ve had numerous relationships - one right after the other because I’ve set my standards way too low. It’s easier to just be with someone than to be alone.
So, what I’ve come to understand is that I shouldn’t settle. Really, it took me forever to think this bright idea up. I SHOULDN’T SETTLE.
Just because you’re ambitious, just because you’re funny, just because you could be a good partner in crime.. Having one or two of those qualities doesn’t mean we’re right together.
So enough wasting time with the wrong ones. If I keep spending time with all the wrong ones, I’ll never have time to work on “me” and find the right one.. if he’s out there at all..
Okay, rant done. Back to studying. Hastas!
